The purpose of the International Conference on Health Informatics is to bring together researchers and practitioners interested in the application of information and communication technologies (ICT) to healthcare and medicine in general and to the support of persons with special needs in particular.
The field of health informatics is inherently interdisciplinary and it deals with the acquisition, transmission, processing, management and use of information to improve health and quality of life, respond to public health emergencies, and realize the 8P’s medicine that is predictive, preventive, precise, pervasive, participatory, preemptive, personalized, patent-centralized. Health informatics has been listed as one of 14 grand challenges in engineering in the 21st century by the US National Academy of Engineering.
